KAPUNDA IS THE OLDEST MINING TOWN IN AUSTRALIA
Kapunda is considered the birthplace of Australia’s mining history. It financially saved South Australia with the discovery of Copper in 1842. Whilst travelling the Heritage Trail, visiting the Museum, the Mining Interpretation Centre and the historic Copper Mine itself, you will be taken back over 150 years to when Cornish Miners flocked to Kapunda to start a new life.

Many Famous Names will confront you in Kapunda. Such as Sir Sydney Kidman, the world's largest private landowner known as the Cattle King. Charles Bagot, France Dutton, Sir Jenkins Coles (the first premier) and Mother Mary McKillop just to name a few. All of whom spent a great deal of time residing in Kapunda.
